Ambassador Du Xiaohui Meets with Hon. Mike Mposha, Minister of Water Development and Sanitation

On November 29, Ambassador Du Xiaohui met with Hon. Mike Mposha, Minister of Water Development and Sanitation of Zambia. Mr. Joe Kalusa, Permanent Secretary of MWDS was present.

Hon. Mposha appreciated China’s long-term valuable support to Zambia in the fields of water supply and sanitation. Some 1,000 boreholes built by China in Zambia have truly benefited the local communities, and the Kafue River Water Bulk project undertaken by Chinese company has positively contributed to improvement of water supply for Lusaka, the capital city of Zambia. The Zambian government attaches great importance to the development of water resources and water sanitation, and is willing to continue to strengthen friendly relations with China as well as cooperation in the above fields.

Ambassador Du introduced the framework of the report to the 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China, and focused on the main content of report section “Pursuing Green Development and Promoting Harmony between Humanity and Nature”.

Ambassador Du said that building a green, low-carbon and beautiful China is an important part of the Chinese path to modernization, while the Zambian government also regards addressing climate change and promoting efficient use of water resources as its policy priorities. On the basis of previous cooperation, China is willing to discuss with Zambia on continuing cooperation in the fields of water supply and water sanitation, so as to jointly promote China-Zambia relations.
