Ambassador Du Xiaohui Attends a Seminar on China-Zambia Relations

On 6 November, Ambassador Du Xiaohui attended a seminar  themed on “Exploring the Newly Upgraded China-Zambia Relations and Discussing the Relevance and Achievements of the State Visit to China by H.E. President Hakainde Hichilema” hosted by the International Relations Association of Zambia, and made a speech. Representatives from the Zambian Government, political parties, think tanks, higher education institutes, media and civil society organizations were present.

Ambassador Du said that President Hichilema paid a historic and successful State Visit to China at the invitation of President Xi Jinping and the two Heads of State announced the establishment of a comprehensive strategic and cooperative partnership. The Ambassador explained his understandings of the “comprehensive”, “strategic” and “cooperative” parts of the partnership. He elaborated on China’s plan to develop relations with Zambia in the next stage. Ambassador Du later answered questions about China's foreign policy, the potentials of bilateral relations with Zambia, challenges and bottlenecks for practical cooperation, youth exchanges and cooperation between think tanks, among others.

The participants appreciated China's long-standing support for the independence and development of Zambia. They commended China for its consistent policy of non-interference in internal affairs of other countries, and spoke highly of China's efforts to uphold peace.
