Ambassador Du Xiaohui Accompanies President Hakainde Hichilema to Attend the Official Commissioning Ceremony of the Kasama Airport

On 24 November 2023, ambassador Du Xiaohui accompanied President Hakainde Hichilema to attend the Official Commissioning Ceremony of the Kasama Airport. Paramount Chief Chitimukulu of the Bemba people, Minister of Transport and Logistics Frank Tayali, Minister of Energy Peter Kapala, Minister of Northern Province Leonard Mbao, Minister of Muchinga Province Henry Sikazwe, among others,  attended the event.

President Hichilema said in his keynote speech that the Kasama Airport is the latest achievement of implementation of consensus reached by him and President Xi Jinping after his State Visit to China, and it will help Zambia make more effective use of the resource endowments of the northern region. He thanked President Xi for China’s strong support for Zambia’s national development.

Ambassador Du said in his speech that the Kasama Airport is a symbol of the implementation of the consensus reached by the two Heads of State, a symbol of the new progress in Zambia’s national development under the leadership of President Hichilema, and a symbol of Chinese businesses’ commitment to carrying forward practical cooperation between China and Zambia.

The new runway of the Kasama Airport is 3.6 kilometers long and 45 meters wide, and has been constructed by Chinese company Anhui Shui’an Construction Group Corporation (ASCG).
