On 11 August 2023, Minister Counsellor Wang Sheng, Deputy Head of Mission of the Chinese Embassy in Zambia and High Commissioner of Tanzania to Zambia H.E. Lt. Gen. Mathew Mkingule paid a visit to the TAZARA (Tanzania-Zambia Railway) Memorial Park, where they were shown images and videos of how the railway was built, paid tribute to the graveyard of 36 Chinese nationals sacrificing their lives for the construction of TAZARA and laid bouquets in their honour.

H.E. Lt. Gen. Mkingule said that TAZARA is a symbol of China-Africa friendship, in particular the friendship between China, Tanzania and Zambia. He thanked the Chinese friends for their selfless assistance and welcomed more Chinese businesses to invest in Africa, to help with local social and economic development and bring benefits to the people on the ground.

Minister Counsellor Wang said that TAZARA is a monument in China-Africa friendship, and that the Chinese side will do what it can to translate its readiness to sustain the friendship into concrete actions to advance cooperation between China and Africa in such areas as trade, investment, green energy and agriculture, so as to benefit people from both sides.
