On 15 January 2024, the Association of Chinese Corporation in Zambia, PowerChina International and China Civil Engineering donated supplies on cholera prevention and intervention to the Disaster Management and Mitigation Unit (DMMU). Minister Counsellor Wang Sheng attended the donation ceremony on behalf of Ambassador Du Xiaohui.

Minister Counsellor Wang said that the generous donation from Chinese corporations not only provides the much-needed assistance to the people of Zambia, but also demonstrates the strong bond of all-weather friendship between China and Zambia. He said that over the past week, the Chinese government and the Chinese people have taken various actions to contribute to Zambia's anti-cholera efforts, and more assistance are on the way. With the joint efforts from both sides, the Zambian people will surely defeat cholera at an early date.

DMMU National Coordinator Dr. Gabriel Pollen thanked Chinese Embassy and Chinese corporations for their donation on behalf of President Hichilema.

On 11 January 2024, President Hakainde Hichilema and Ambassador Du Xiaohui jointly attended the press conference on China supporting Zambia in the fight against cholera. As one of the nine measures announced during the press conference on cholera prevention and intervention, the Association of Chinese Corporation in Zambia, PowerChina International and China Civil Engineering have donated water tanks with a capacity 210 tons daily, to provide clean and safe water to 42 thousand local people every day. They have also provided water pipes, concrete bases for water tank installation and an all-day standby transportation truck.
