On 19 June 2024, Chargé d'Affaires of the Chinese Embassy in Zambia, Mr. Wang Sheng met with Hon. Chipoka Mulenga, Minister of Commerce, Trade and Industry of Zambia, to exchange views on further strengthening China-Zambia economic and trade cooperation.
Mr. Wang said that this year marks the 60th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Zambia. It is also the Year of Business Cooperation designated by the two heads of state. With the joint efforts of China and Zambia, various activities have been carried out successfully. China is willing to maintain close communication and coordination with Zambia, deepen and expand practical cooperation in various fields, and accumulate outcomes for the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC) Summit to be held this year.
Hon. Mulenga said that he thanked China for hosting the China-Zambia High Quality Development Forum, the 2024 Technology Empowering Development Forum and other activities within the Year of Business Cooperation, and appreciates China’s support for the revitalization of the Tanzania-Zambia Railway (TAZARA). Zambia is willing to provide preferential policies for the revitalization project and more convenience for Chinese companies to invest in Zambia and the development of the Zambia-China Economic and Trade Cooperation Zone.
