On 18 March 2025, the handover ceremony of 5 agriculture drones donated by the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development of China to the Ministry of Agriculture of Zambia was held at the Zambia Agricultural Research Institute. Chargé d'affaires of the Embassy in Zambia Wang Sheng and Zambian Minister of Agriculture Phiri attended the ceremony and signed the handover certificate.

Chargé d'affaires Wang noted that agricultural cooperation is an important part of China-Zambian comprehensive stratgic and cooperative partnership, and he hoped that the donation of five plant protection drones would play a positive role in improving Zambia's agricultural production conditions and upgrading the level of Zambia's agricultural mechanisation. China is willing to promote more joint agricultural projects to be implemented in Zambia, and to facilitate more Zambian agricultural products export to China.

Minister Phiri noted the Zambian government is very grateful to the Chinese government and people for their kind help. This is the first time the Zambian government has received a donation of agriculture drones. It is a strong reflection of the deepening of friendly and cooperative relations between the two countries since the establishment of diplomatic relations more than 60 years ago. Zambia will continue to promote the process of agricultural modernization and mechanization and the development of the agricultural industry.

After the handover ceremony, the Zambian Ministry of Agriculture also held a test flight for the drone.
