On November 15, H.E. Mr.Li Jie ,Chinese Ambassador to Zambia,accompanied Hon. Stanley Kasongo Kakubo,Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation,to visit the China Aid International Conference Center project in Lusaka. Special Assistant to the President for Projects Implementation and Monitoring Dr.Lawrence Mwananyanda, Acting Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Isabelle Mutinta Matyola-Lemba, Project Managers from Jiangsu International and other relevant officials from the Ministry were present.

Ambassador Li said that the implementation of the International Conference Center project not only demonstrates the traditional friendship between China and Zambia, but also marks the successful implementation of the key cooperation project of the Beijing Summit of FOCAC in Zambia. Once the project completed, Zambia will not only acquire a first-class modern infrastructure to host the 2022 African Union Summit, but also enhance Zambia's exhibition capacity and national image.

Ambassador Li stressed that, he hoped the project contractor Jiangsu International would attach great importance to quality management, take full advantages of Chinese enterprises in technology, always maintain a high standard of construction, and apply Chinese standards and quality practices during the construction period.

Minister Kakubo said that the Zambian government pays great attention to the China Aid International Conference Center project, which will become the second largest conference center in Africa next to the African Union Headquarters when completed. The Zambian side is satisfied with the current progress of the project.

Minister Kakubo stressed that since the establishment of diplomatic ties between the two countries 57 years ago, under the guidance of generations of leaders, Zambia and China have always maintained sincere friendship and mutual respect. It is hoped that the two countries would deepen bilateral cooperation in practical projects, public health and other areas to continue to benefit the two peoples.

Ambassador Li Jie accompanied Minister Kakubo to tour the main structure and facilities of the project.
