Charge d'Affaires Mr. Lai Bo Attended the Digital Leadership Innovation Program MOU Signing Ceremony

On March 16, 2022, Mr. Lai Bo, Charge d'Affaires ad interim of the Chinese Embassy in Zambia, was invited to the presidential palace to witness the signing of the Mou between the Zambia government and Huawei on digital leadership innovation program.

Charge d'Affaires Lai Bo encouraged Huawei to give full play to their professional skills and rich experience accumulated over the years in the field of ICT, and continue to make its own unique contribution to improve the digital competitiveness of Zambia,strengthen the competitive power of the youth employment, and achieve more inclusive social and economic development of the state. Mr. Lai said that China will continue to support Zambia in taking the digital economy as a driving force for national development, and is also willing to tap cooperation potential, consolidate the foundation for cooperation and make new achievements in digital cooperation and scientific and technological innovation under the framework of FOCAC with Zambia.

President Hichilema underscored the Zambia Administration's desire to mainstream technology and innovation in national programmes, and spoke highly of the cooperation, saying that the initiative by Huawei Technologies, which hails from Zambia’s enduring relationship with China since the independence days, is commendable and will go a long way in offering deserving students opportunities.

Representatives including Mr. Felix Mutati, Minister of Technology and Science of Zambia, Mr. Douglas Siakalima, Minister of Education, Mr. Liu Guoyu, Economic and Commercial Counsellor of the Chinese Embassy, Mr. Chen Lei, President of Huawei Southern Africa Region, and other officials were also present.
