On the afternoon of May 7th, 2022, Ambassador Du Xiaohui went to the residence of the 23rd batch of China Medical Team to Zambia to visit the team members.

After listening to the comprehensive introduction of the work of the medical team by Dr. Yan Hongxian, the team Leader, Ambassador Du conveyed cordial greetings to all team members from the motherland and people, warmly interacted with some team members, and fully affirmed the work carried out by the China Medical Team. From the name of China Medical Team to Zambia, Ambassador Du pointed out that "China" represents call to action, it requested us to do a great job in "foreign aid" with the spirit of China-Africa friendly cooperation and the spirit of Tanzania-Zambia railway in the new era, and the medical team is undertaking the special mission of foreign aid in medical area. For the word "Zambia", it means that we should proceed from the all-weather friendship between China and Zambia and Zambia's special position in China's diplomatic history, inherit the spirit, experience and tradition of the first 22 medical teams, unite and cooperate, complete the foreign aid medical tasks delivered by the Party and the State with high quality, and contribute to the good cooperation between China and Zambia. 

Ambassador Du also asked Dr. Yan to convey his greetings to the eight team members who works outside of Lusaka, and instructed everyone to try their best in occupational protection to ensure their own health and safety.

China has sent the medical team to Zambia since 1978, which has lasted for 44 years. More than 600 experts have come to Zambia successively, and has made important contributions to improving Zambia's medical and health conditions and people's health level, which has been highly praised by the governments and people of China and Zambia. At present, the China Medical Team has been working in the four hospitals of three cities in Zambia, and has completed many batches of urgent and dangerous tasks. The 23rd batch of China Medical Team to Zambia was dispatched by Henan Provincial Health Commission and composed of 28 experts from 13 hospitals or institutions, such as Luoyang Central Hospital. Since arriving in Zambia on March 13th, 2022, it has been highly concerned by all aspects. On May 1st, 2022, the China Medical Team was invited to participate in Zambia's International Labor Day ceremony, and as the only foreign phalanx, it passed the Presidential viewing platform, and was awarded the May 1st Labor trophy.
