On 20th July 2022, Mr. Du Xiaohui, Chinese Ambassador to Zambia and Special Representative of China to the Common Market for Eastern and Southern Africa (COMESA), presented his Letter of Accreditation to H.E. Ms. Chileshe Mpundu Kapwepwe, Secretary General of COMESA.

Ambassador Du conveyed cordial greetings and best wishes from State Councillor and Foreign Minister Wang Yi to Secretary General Kapwepwe. He said that China commends COMESA for the progress it has achieved in promoting regional integration and friendly cooperation between its member states and China. He would like to work with COMESA to implement the “Nine Programmes” of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC) so that friendship and cooperation between China and Africa can be expanded, from which their peoples can benefit more.

Secretary General Kapwepwe welcomed Ambassador Du as Special Representative to COMESA and asked him to convey greetings to State Councillor Wang Yi. She said that COMESA and China have a long history of relationship and cordial cooperation and thanked China for its strong support for Africa’s economic and social development. She hoped to enhance cooperation with China under the framework of FOCAC to improve regional cooperation and socio-economic development of its member states.
