On April 2, 2026, Ambassador Han Jing attended the handover ceremony of the Mutinta Hichilema Rural Health Centre in Southern Province, which was constructed with the support of the Chinese Embassy. The event was graced by the First Lady of Zambia, Mrs. Mutinta Hichilema, Minister of Health Dr. Alex Katakwe, among other distinguished guests.

In her remarks, the First Lady noted that China has provided selfless assistance to Zambia in various fields including health. The completion of this health centre will greatly alleviate the difficulties faced by local residents, especially women and children, in accessing medical care. She expressed her gratitude to President Xi Jinping and Prof. Peng Liyuan for their profound friendship and kindness toward the people of Zambia.
Ambassador Han stated that the handover of this health centre represents an important step in implementing the consensus reached between the two First Ladies, and stands as a testament to the profound friendship between the people of China and Zambia. He reiterated that China’s assistance never comes with political strings attached, and that China’s support for Zambia’s public health sector has never been empty slogans. China is ready to provide necessary support to this health centre, including furniture and solar power facilities.

The First Lady and Ambassador Han jointly cut the ribbon for the health centre. Local traditional leaders and hundreds of community members gathered to perform traditional songs and dances, expressing their heartfelt gratitude to the two First Families.
