On April 30, 2026, Ambassador Han Jing accompanied Zambian President Hakainde Hichilema to attend the  Commissioning Ceremony of the 136MW Itimpi Solar Plant, which was constructed by TBEA Co., Ltd.

President Hichilema stated that the commissioning of the Itimpi Solar Plant marks another major step in diversifying Zambia’s energy mix. The Zambian Government will continue to support energy investment and strive to achieve 10 GW of energy generation. The president sincerely appreciated the Chinese enterprises for their contributions to Zambia’s energy sector and expressed the hope of further deepening practical cooperation with China in various fields including energy, agriculture and mining.

Ambassador Han Jing stated that President Hichilema and President Xi Jinping have elevated China-Zambia relations to a comprehensive strategic and cooperative partnership,which lays a solid foundation for practical cooperation between China and Zambia. The commissioning of the Itimpi Solar Power Plant is the latest achievement of the ever-growing friendly relations between our two countries. The Chinese government will continue to support the Chinese enterprises in making new contributions to Zambia’s industrialization and modernization, and bring China-Zambia friendly relations to new heights.
