On March 18, Ambassador Han Jing attended a Lean Season Food Distribution in Siavonga District, Southern Province, as part of the food assistance jointly provided to Zambia by the Chinese government and the United Nations World Food Programme (WFP).

Ambassador Han noted that the friendship between China and Zambia enjoys a long history and that the two peoples have always been connected heart to heart. The food distribution conveys the sincere friendship of the Chinese people. China is ready to further promote cooperation at all levels, including with Southern Province, firmly support the United Nations in playing a central role in international affairs, and take concrete actions to promote the building of a community with a shared future for mankind.

WFP Country Director Mrs. Kabasuuga said that this food assistance is funded by the Chinese government under the Global Development and South-South Cooperation Fund and implemented through WFP. From January to March this year, it has been providing food aid to vulnerable residents in Southern and Western Provinces, with 18,900 people in Siavonga District set to benefit.
