On 26 August 2026, President Hakainde Hichilema met with Ambassador Han Jing.

Ambassador Han conveyed President Xi Jinping’s warm congratulations and best wishes, and stressed that under the strategic guidance of the two Heads of State, the China-Zambia Comprehensive Strategic and Cooperative Partnership has continued to deepen. China attaches great importance to China-Zambia relations and stands ready to work with Zambia to implement the important consensus reached by the two Heads of State, advance the practical cooperation by building on the traditional friendship.

President Hichilema asked Ambassador Han to convey his cordial greetings and sincere thanks to President Xi. He said that the new Zambia Government looks forward to further strengthening practical cooperation with China, jointly advancing the revitalization of TAZARA for the benefit of the people of both countries.
