On 22 September 2026, the Chinese Embassy in Zambia held a reception to celebrate the 77th anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China. Around 400 guests from all sectors of Zambia and the local Chinese community attended the event.
Ambassador Han Jing stressed that under the strategic guidance of President Xi Jinping and President Hakainde Hichilema, China-Zambia Comprehensive Strategic and Cooperative Partnership has grown rapidly, with deepening practical cooperation in such areas as agriculture, energy, mining, infrastructure and the digital economy. The Chinese side stands ready to work with the Zambian side to implement the important consensus reached by the two Heads of State and the outcomes of the 2024 Beijing Summit of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation by building on the TAZARA spirit, with a view to enhancing people-to-people bonds and producing more fruitful results in the bilateral relationship.
Mr. Maambo Haamaundu, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Defence of Zambia and Guest of Honour stressed that Zambia highly values its friendship with China and looks forward to further deepening its cooperation with China by bringing in more Chinese technologies and investment, to better serve the attainment of the Grow Zambia Agenda.
A China-Zambia fashion show was held during the reception, which showcased the unique charm of cultural exchanges and mutual learning between China and Zambia and won warm applause from the guests.
