On October 20, Ambassador Han Jing accompanied Zambian President Hakainde Hichilema to attend the Groundbreaking Ceremony of United Capital Fertilizer Urea Plant Phase II, which is invested by the Wonderful Group and constructed by China Wuhuan Engineering Corporation Ltd. With a designed annual production capacity of 520,000 tons of urea and 400,000 tons of ammonium nitrate, the project entails a total investment of approximately US$1.6 billion.

President Hichilema expressed his profound gratitude to the Chinese government and businesses for their vital contributions to Zambia’s economic and social development. He noted that the United Capital Fertilizer Plant has emerged as a hallmark of Zambia’s modern chemical industry, propelling the country to translate its resource advantages into development strengths. The Zambian Government will continue to refine the business environment to attract greater international investment.

Ambassador Han Jing stated that the United Capital Fertilizer Plant stands as a key achievement of China-Zambia collaboration in advancing industrialization and modernization. The Chinese Government will continue to support Chinese businesses in expanding investment in Zambia, applying more advanced standards and technologies and deepening practical cooperation across all sectors, so as to elevate the China-Zambia comprehensive strategic and cooperative partnership to new heights.
