Zambia was the first country from the southern part of Africa to establish diplomatic ties with the People’s Republic of China. The friendship between China and Zambia was forged by Chairman Mao Zedong, Premier Zhou Enlai, President Kenneth Kaunda and other founding fathers, and has been carefully nurtured by President Xi Jinping and President Hakainde Hichilema and generations of leaders of the two countries. The all-weather friendship stood the test of time and has been growing from strength to strength. H.E. President Hichilema paid a State Visit to China last September, where the two heads of state decided to upgrade the bilateral relationship to a comprehensive strategic and cooperative partnership, setting the direction for where we are heading in the years to come. Since China and Zambia established diplomatic relations in 1964, the friendship has continued to flourish as a benchmark for China-Africa friendship and a role model of South-South cooperation.

China-Zambia relationship has made a major leap forward through an upgrade to a comprehensive strategic and cooperative partnership and is facing new opportunities in the new era. The Chinese Embassy in Zambia will uphold the spirit of China-Africa friendship and cooperation proposed by President Xi Jinping and continue to serve as a messenger for friendship, a promoter of cooperation between the two countries and a facilitator of Chinese businesses and nationals in Zambia.
