On 14 January 2026, Chargé d'Affaires Wang Sheng met with Hon. Elijah Muchima, Minister of Health of Zambia. The two sides exchanged views on deepening health cooperation between China and Zambia.

Mr. Wang extended New Year greetings to Hon. Muchima. He said that over the past year, under the strategic guidance of the two Heads of State, the China-Zambia Comprehensive Strategic and Cooperative Partnership has grown stronger. The official visit by Chinese Premier Li Qiang to Zambia has injected strong impetus into the development of China-Zambia relations. In 2026, China is ready to maintain close communication and cooperation with Zambia, and will, as always, provide assistance and support to the Zambian side in various fields, including health.

Hon. Muchima said that health cooperation between Zambia and China achieved fruitful results in 2025, benefiting the people of both countries. The friendship between Zambia and China has a long history, and the Zambian side is grateful to China for the long-term health assistance, especially in hospital infrastructure, medical equipment, vaccines, anti-HIV test kits, among other areas. He expressed the hope that the two sides could continue to strengthen cooperation in the new year.
