From January 30 to 31, 2026, a study group headed by Chargé d'Affaires Wang Sheng visited the Central Province of Zambia, where they undertook a site visit to the TAZARA Railway and inspected the Jiangxi Economic Cooperation Zone.
During the visit to the railway station in New Kapiri Mposhi, the study team listened to briefings from China Civil Engineering Construction Cooperation and China Nonferrous Metals International Trading Company. Wang said that the Chinese government attaches great importance to the revitalization of the TAZARA Railway, which is best illustrated by Premier Li Qiang’s recent official visit to Zambia and his attendance at the ground-breaking ceremony of the railway revitalization project. As the revitalization work unfolds, the revitalized TAZARA Railway will become a significant shining example of China-Africa cooperation in the new era. Wang also stressed that it is crucial to concentrate on the preliminary survey and design work to ensure the safety of the revitalization project and bring new vitality to the railway.
In Chibombo, the study team visited some settled enterprises in Jiangxi Economic Cooperation Zone with a particular focus on the safety measures taken by the management team. Wang said that the cooperation zone has made great contributions to the mutually beneficial China-Zambia cooperation and the diversification of local industries. He emphasized the importance of ensuring the safety of production, attracting more investment, and fully leveraging the historic opportunity presented by the revitalization of the TAZARA Railway to make greater contributions to China-Zambia economic and trade cooperation.
