Minister Counselor Wang Sheng Attends IRAZ Diplomats Roundtable Meeting and Delivers a Keynote Address

On 2 April 2026, Deputy Chief of Mission and Minister Counselor Wang Shengattended the Diplomats Roundtable Meetingwith the theme Climate Mitigation, Adaptation, Finance and Green Energy Transition in Zambiaheld by International Relations Association of Zambia (IRAZ) and delivered a keynote address. Ms. Etambuyu Gundersen, Permanent Secretary of theMinistry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation,Mr. Ranford Simumbwe, Acting Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Green Economy and Environment, Ambassador George Zulu, Chairperson of IRAZ, and over 50 representatives from diplomatic corps, international organizations, universities, think tanks andmedia houses were present.

Mr. Wang elaborated on the three phases of Chinas green transformation since the 18thNational Congress of the Communist Party of China, which represents a change of approach from passively responding to environmental challenges to proactively navigating green-driven growth model. He also proposed four recommendations for China-Zambia cooperation in the energy sector, namely, exploring ways to ensure energy security through partnerships, prioritizing energy projects to improve power supply, promoting high-quality industrial development through green transformation, and paying extra attention to capacity-building to nurture talents, to contribute to Zambias endeavors to achieve energy security based on its national realities.

Panelists and participants expressed admiration for China’s journeyof green transformationand expressed a hope that China would share its experience, technologyand development opportunitieswith Zambia to tackle the challenges of climate changetogether.
