On May 7, 2026, Minister Counsellor Wang Sheng attended the handover ceremony of the Mutinta Hichilema Secondary School, constructed with the support of Wonderful Group. The event was graced by the presence of the First Lady of Zambia Mrs. Mutinta Hichilema. Minister of Education Hon. Douglas Syakalima, Minister of Commerce, Trade and Industry Hon. Chipoka Mulenga, Deputy Secretary to the Cabinet Mr. Siazongo Siakalenge, Zambia National Service Commander Lieutenant General Maliti Solochi II, and Wonderful Group CEO Mr. Huang Yaochi, among other distinguished guests, were present.

In her remarks, the First Lady said that the school built with Chinese assistance has brought dignity, opportunities and hope to local youth. She expressed gratitude that the school was named after her, praising it as a model of investment that gives back to the local community, and noted it will strongly support Zambia’s goal of achieving free education for all.

Minister Counsellor Wang noted that the handover came on the First Lady’s birthday, calling the timing most fitting. He added that this year also marks China-Africa Year of People-to-People Exchanges, in which Chinese and Zambian youth will play a central role. The school, constructed with assistance from Wonderful Group, best reflects the strength of the bilateral relations and the fulfillment of social responsibility by Chinese businesses in Zambia. China will continue to encourage its businesses to contribute to Zambia’s development and prosperity and to the improvement of people’s livelihood.

Located in the Chilanga District of Lusaka, the school can accommodate 750 students. It is fully equipped and surpasses the standards of many private schools in Zambia.
