On 8 May, Counselor Jin Jun attended the commissioning ceremony of a mining tunnel boring machine (TBM) at NFC Africa Mining in Zambia’s Copperbelt Province.

Counselor Jin stated that the deployment of Africa’s first mining tunnel boring machine in Zambia vividly demonstrates how Chinese companies are taking concrete actions to promote green, intelligent, and modern development in Zambia’s mining sector. The Chinese government will continue to encourage and support Chinese enterprises to expand investment in Zambia, and to help translate the country's resource endowments into development gains through Chinese technology and solutions, as both sides advance modernization together.

Minister Kabuswe noted that the commissioning of the mining tunnel boring machine marks a shift in Zambia’s mining industry from the traditional drill-and-blast method toward a new era of mechanical rock breaking and intelligent mining. He expressed the hope that this commissioning will serve as a new starting point for Chinese and Zambian companies to further strengthen cooperation and strive for the early realization of Zambia’s mining development goals.
